Energy savings certificates: a few key points
Energy Savings Certificates were created by Articles 14 to 17 of Law No. 2005-781 of 13 July 2005, setting the guidelines for energy policy (the POPE Law). This law provides schemes to support households and businesses in reducing their energy consumption.
Obligated parties
This scheme requires energy suppliers (electricity, gas, fuel, heating oil, heat, etc.) to carry out energy-saving actions with their customers or prospects. Obligated parties can choose to:
→ Types of customers: businesses, households, public authorities.
→ Business sectors residential buildings, tertiary buildings, industry, agriculture, transport, networks;
Eligible parties
The scheme also involves other players known as “eligible parties”. These include local authorities, the National Housing Agency, social landlords and semi-public companies offering third-party financing. They are involved in:
→ Generating ESCs;
→ Submitting ESCs individually or as a group;
→ Selling ESCs to finance the works.
The benefits
The company can gain significant benefits when such a project is carried out. For example:
→ Increasing the company’s productivity by installing new equipment, such as a chilled water unit;
→ Making the company less energy-intensive;
→ Improving the value of the company’s assets;
→ Reducing investments (CAPEX) and costs (OPEX).
Support and financing
Eurotechni supports you throughout the process. If you are eligible, we systematically deduct the ESC premium from the cost of the works.
